Siliguri: Siliguri Institute of Technology (SIT) hosted the Mind Spark Inter-School Recitation and Extempore Speech Competition on October 1, 2026, at its campus, with participation from more than 200 students representing schools across North Bengal.
The competition was organised to provide school students with a platform to showcase their oratory skills, memory, expression and confidence. Participants competed in both English and their respective mother tongues.
Renowned elocutionist Bratati Bondopadhyay travelled from Kolkata to judge the participants. She was joined by Doordarshan and Akashvani artists Sumita Dutta and Amitava Ghosh, along with eminent soft-skill specialist Ranjan Chettri, who served as judges for both competitions.
In the Extempore Speech Competition, Ritika Singh of Army Public School, Sukna, secured the Champion position. Kaveri Paul of Amar Jyoti International School was named First Runner-Up, while Anusaya Rawat of Delhi Public School finished as Second Runner-Up.
In the Recitation Competition, Aradhrita Bagchi of Kendriya Vidyalaya Siliguri emerged as Champion. Debadrita Roy of Kendriya Vidyalaya Siliguri secured the First Runner-Up position. Yasvi Bansal of Delhi Public School and Ahana Dutta of Techno India Group Public School Siliguri jointly finished as Second Runner-Up.
The event highlighted the importance of communication, public speaking and creative expression among school students.
Siliguri Institute of Technology is an established educational institution in North Bengal, located at the SIT campus in Salbari, Sukna, Darjeeling district. The institute was established in 1999 and operates under the Techno India Group.
