The Eastern Himalaya Travel & Tour Operators’ Association (EHTTOA) and the North Bengal Tourist Transport Operators Association (NBTTOA) have taken a big step to improve tourism in the region. On Saturday, both associations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Siliguri to work together and strengthen the link between tourism and transport across the Eastern Himalayas.The 12th Biennial General Meeting of EHTTOA was held at Hotel Surya Grand, Siliguri on 2nd August 2026. In the meeting, a new committee was formed for the term 2026-2028. A total of 17 governing members were elected by the members present at the BGM.

The main goal of this agreement is to make travel easier, safer, and more organised for tourists. To do this, both EHTTOA and NBTTOA will promote registered tourist vehicles, run regular training programs for drivers, and focus on road safety. They also plan to carry out tourism awareness campaigns and set up a Joint Coordination Committee. This committee will work on solving industry problems and take up important issues with the government and administration.
Leaders from both sides said that good transport is the key to growing tourism. They believe this partnership will help improve service quality, create new job opportunities, make travel safer for visitors, and support the economic growth of North Bengal and the Eastern Himalayan region.
The MoU will be valid for six years. Both organisations have said that this partnership shows their commitment to building a stronger, safer, and more sustainable tourism system for the future through teamwork and joint efforts.
