A jewellery-related financial dispute involving an alleged ₹25 lakh fraud in Siliguri has taken a fresh turn, with an 82-year-old resident, Radheshyam Agarwal, reportedly approaching the Director General of Police (DGP) of West Bengal and seeking intervention in the matter.
The complaint revolves around Silver Queen Jewellers, along with two other jewellery showrooms reportedly connected to the same family Diamond Queen and Gems Queen by Silver Queen, located at Seth Srilal Market in Siliguri.
According to the complaint available on the Siliguri Police website, Agarwal alleged that he and his family members transferred a total of ₹25 lakh on March 21, 2024, through NEFT/RTGS transactions. The payment was reportedly made as an advance for purchasing jewellery for his grandson's wedding, which was scheduled for May 12, 2025.
The complainant further alleged that despite repeated visits to the showrooms in April and May 2025, the family was repeatedly asked to wait for fresh jewellery stocks expected from Kolkata and Mumbai. However, according to the complaint, the promised jewellery was not delivered before the wedding.
Agarwal also alleged that subsequent visits revealed that the concerned showrooms had remained closed, raising further concerns for the family over the money paid as an advance.
In the latest development highlighted in the complaint, the 82-year-old has reportedly written to the West Bengal DGP, seeking justice and appropriate action in connection with the alleged financial irregularities.
The matter has brought renewed attention to the allegations involving the three jewellery outlets. However, the allegations remain claims made by the complainant and should not be treated as established findings of guilt. The latest status of the police investigation and any response from the concerned jewellers could not be independently verified from the available sources.
