Bengal chambers commerce and industry conducted a meeting :focusing on investment and Job opportunities

With the intention to encourage new industries, bring in new investments and create job opportunities in North Bengal, the Bengal Chambers of Commerce and Industry conducted a very important meeting. This meeting was attended by all industrialists and businessmen from the region and was based on development strategies for the future and investment prospects. While addressing the meeting, Finance Minister Swapan Debnath expressed that North Bengal was once considered to be the "Chicken's Neck" of India; however, its importance has increased greatly in terms of national security and economy. He claimed that the region has become peaceful and good for investments which makes it very attractive for business and industry. Also, the Minister said that a crisis exists in the tea industry. Speaking about the closure of several tea gardens and financial problems of the workers in tea gardens, he mentioned that the state government is taking some actions to prevent the deterioration of the situation. It will conduct the meeting of all participants of the tea industry in Kolkata, Siliguri or Darjeeling to make a strategy of revival of the industry. Speaking about the priority sectors of the economy of the state, Debnath added that the government is stimulating the development of the industries of the future such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, advanced education and other innovative industries in order to stimulate private investments. Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh announced that Darjeeling and the Sundarbans will be branded as the best tourist destinations of the world to increase the presence of the state in the international tourism market. Also, the Minister added that the branding of Durga Puja internationally will be improved. The Minister said that the application of integrated tourism will be soon released. It will include all services in tourism including registration of government approved hotels, registrations of NIDHI portal, tours and excursions, taxis and booking agencies. There will be also conducted large-scale promotion of the application. It should be noted that the topic of creating new industries in North Bengal was one of the key topics at the meeting. Special attention was paid to the development of manufacturing industry, food industry, tea-based industry, textile industry and the sector of MSME. Besides, plans of improving infrastructure in terms of better road, rail and air connectivity, building of industrial parks, logistics centers and modern warehousing were announced.
