Siliguri: The Silver Jubilee celebrations of the North Bengal University Alumni Association (NBUAA) concluded with a special closing programme at Rabindra Bhanu Mancha on the North Bengal University campus on October 4.
The event brought together alumni, academics and other distinguished guests to mark an important milestone in the journey of the university’s alumni association. The NBU Alumni Association had officially announced the Silver Jubilee closing programme for October 4, 2026, at Rabindra Bhanu Mancha.
Among the prominent attendees was Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Union Minister of State for Education and Minister of State in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region. His association with the University of North Bengal also adds significance to his presence, as he pursued his higher education at the institution and holds a PhD in Botany from the university.
Dr. Majumdar currently serves as a Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Education as well as the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, according to the official Lok Sabha profile.
The North Bengal University Alumni Association was established to maintain a continuing connection between former students and their alma mater and to encourage interaction around the development and social interface of the university. The association is represented by an executive committee and its activities include academic, cultural and social programmes.
The Silver Jubilee closing ceremony therefore served as both a celebration of the association's journey and an opportunity for members of the university's alumni community to reconnect with their institution and one another.
