Siliguri, September 14: The Income Tax Department’s North Bengal and Sikkim region celebrated Hindi Day with the release of the inaugural edition of its annual Rajbhasha magazine, ‘Kar-Sangam’.
The magazine was formally unveiled at a programme held at the Srijan Auditorium, Income Tax Bhawan, Matigara, where Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Siliguri, Rajiv Kumar officially launched the publication.
The event also marked the beginning of the Hindi Fortnight, which commenced on September 14. A series of cultural activities and poetry recitations were organised as part of the opening ceremony, giving the programme a strong literary character.
Officials and employees of the department participated in the poetry session, while renowned humour and satire poet Karan Singh Jain entertained the audience with his compositions. Poets Rajesh Gupta and Pratima Joshi also presented their works, receiving an enthusiastic response from those present.
Speaking about the publication, Income Tax Officer and Chief Editor Ashutosh Kumar said the first edition of ‘Kar-Sangam’ was prepared within just seven days through the collective efforts of the department’s officials and employees. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to bringing the magazine together.
The inaugural issue features creative contributions from members of the Income Tax family across the North Bengal and Sikkim region. Poems, short stories, articles and memoirs have been included alongside paintings and photographs created by members of the department.
Beyond literary content, the magazine also documents glimpses of programmes organised by the department throughout the year. It highlights the evolution of India’s taxation system and provides an overview of the structure and functioning of the Income Tax Department across the North Bengal and Sikkim region.
The publication also captures the distinctive cultural and natural character of North Bengal, including its tea gardens and hill culture, bringing together administrative, literary and regional perspectives in a single publication.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Siliguri, Rajiv Kumar described ‘Kar-Sangam’ as more than just a departmental magazine. He said the publication reflects the cultural unity of the region stretching from the hills to the plains and the department’s commitment to Rajbhasha Hindi.
Rajiv Kumar also congratulated the editorial team for bringing out the first edition and appreciated the efforts behind the publication.
Senior officials, officers and employees of the Income Tax Department attended the programme.
