Siliguri, September 15, 2026: The Rotary Club of Siliguri, under Rotary International District 3240, hosted a special ‘Gyan Jyoti Award and Felicitation Ceremony’ at Rotary Hall in Pradhan Nagar on Tuesday, September 15.
The programme was organised to recognise the dedication of teachers towards education, youth development and the future of the next generation. Seven teachers from Siliguri and neighbouring areas were honoured for their noteworthy contribution to the field of education.
The ceremony began with the dignitaries being welcomed to the stage, followed by the national anthem and the welcome address by the President of Rotary Club of Siliguri. Dr. Shankar Ghosh, West Bengal Tourism Minister and MLA of Siliguri, attended the programme as the chief guest. He was felicitated by the club president and the Chairman of the Siliguri Rotary Blood Centre.
Following the inaugural address, Project Chairman Rajkumar Prasad introduced the teachers selected for the honour. The Gyan Jyoti Awards were subsequently presented to:

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Shankar Ghosh appreciated the Rotary Club of Siliguri for its public-oriented initiatives. He also highlighted the importance of teachers in promoting civic responsibility, intellectual development and nation-building.
The Rotary Club of Siliguri, established in 1968 under Rotary International District 3240, works across areas including literacy, healthcare, environmental protection and youth development.
