Kolkata, August 08, 2026: On the occasion of Baishe Shravan, West Bengal Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Agnimitra Paul, Higher Education Minister Jagannath Chattopadhyay, Shibpur MLA Bijoy Ojha, Shibpur MLA Rudranil Ghosh, and North Kolkata BJP president Tamoghna Ghosh paid tribute to Rabindranath Tagore at Jorasanko Thakurbari in Kolkata.
Speaking on the occasion, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Agnimitra Paul raised concerns over waste management, alleging that there had been no significant improvement in the sector over the past 15 years.
Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Agnimitra Paul also spoke about women’s safety, questioning the previous government’s approach to the issue. She said the present government had started taking action and was working to fulfil its promises.
She further stated that old cases would be reopened and steps would be taken to ensure justice.
During her interaction with the media, West Bengal Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Agnimitra Paul also made remarks regarding Trinamool Congress national general secretary and Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee and his personal assistant Sumit Roy, adding another political dimension to the event.
The leaders gathered at Jorasanko Thakurbari to pay homage to Rabindranath Tagore as part of the observance of Baishe Shravan, the poet’s death anniversary.
