KOLKATA, August 10, 2026 : A fresh round of internal infighting has erupted within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Jadavpur, with a section of pro-Mamata party workers shutting down the office of Jadavpur MP Saayoni Ghosh.
The incident took place at the TMC office at Dulal Das Thakur Bhavan on Prince Anwar Shah Road, where Jadavpur MP Saayoni Ghosh reportedly holds public grievance meetings every Monday.
The protesters raised questions over why Saayoni Ghosh, the Jadavpur Lok Sabha MP, is continuing to use a TMC office for public outreach activities following her reported political move to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
The protesting TMC workers placed a lock on the MP’s office and raised slogans against Jadavpur MP Saayoni Ghosh. They demanded an explanation over the continued use of TMC party infrastructure for her public grievance meetings.
The demonstration has brought internal tensions within the TMC’s Jadavpur organisation into the spotlight. The protesters, who identified themselves as supporters of West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, questioned the MP’s continued association with the TMC office amid her reported political shift.
The office remained closed during the demonstration as the protesting TMC workers continued their agitation outside the premises.
The incident is likely to further highlight the political tensions within the Trinamool Congress in Jadavpur and raise questions over the use of party offices and organisational infrastructure amid shifting political alignments.
