Kolkata, October 12, 2026: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted search operations at eight locations across Kolkata on Monday as part of its investigation into an alleged investment fraud and suspected money laundering case linked to the Amrit Group of companies.
The searches covered several premises in south Kolkata, including locations in Tollygunge and along Sarat Bose Road. According to reports citing ED officials, the latest operation follows leads gathered during previous searches conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.
Investigators are examining allegations that money was collected from members of the public through investment and deposit schemes promising substantial returns. The funds were allegedly channelled into real estate development, construction-related activities and other business ventures.
The agency is scrutinising bank account details, financial records and transaction documents to trace the movement of the money and establish the possible involvement of individuals and business entities in the suspected irregularities.
The latest operation follows searches conducted by the ED in September at premises linked to the Amrit Group in Kolkata, Indore and other locations. The agency's official update states that searches carried out on September 16 and 17 covered 20 residential and office premises connected to the Amrit Group and others.
During those operations, the ED reported seizing movable assets worth approximately ₹2.75 crore, including ₹1 crore in cash, foreign currency worth US$4,800, bank balances and other incriminating documents.
The current searches are aimed at tracing the suspected money trail and determining the extent of the alleged financial irregularities. The identities and roles of all individuals potentially involved in the latest operation have not been fully established in the available reporting.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations have not been established as proven offences by a court.
