Kolkata, August 11, 2026: Panic spread in Kolkata after 25 students of Park Institution for Girls fell ill and were admitted to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The students were admitted to the hospital at different times between 2 pm and 8 pm on Monday after reportedly developing symptoms including fever, stomach pain and vomiting.
Doctors examined the students and started treatment based on their symptoms. All 25 students have been kept under observation and remain under medical supervision at the hospital.
On Tuesday night, State Health Minister Dr. Sarthak Mukhopadhyay visited RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to take stock of the students’ health and review the situation.
The exact reason behind so many students falling ill around the same time has not yet been established. Authorities are investigating whether the incident could be linked to food or drinks consumed at the school or an infectious illness.
However, no specific cause has been confirmed so far.
On Wednesday, a team from the State Health Department visited the school to inspect the premises and gather information as part of the ongoing investigation.
