Nepal, September 09 : Nepal was hit by a magnitude 5.0 earthquake at around 9:38 pm on Tuesday, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported, adding another seismic event to a region already dealing with the devastating impact of recent flash floods.
The earthquake struck as Nepal continues to recover from widespread flash floods that have claimed more than 1,300 lives, according to the information available.
The latest tremor came several hours after a stronger magnitude 5.3 earthquake was recorded in Tibet, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The EMSC reported that the Tibet earthquake occurred at a depth of approximately 35 kilometres.
The occurrence of earthquakes in the region has added to concerns as Nepal remains focused on dealing with the aftermath of the deadly floods. Authorities and relief agencies have been working amid the continuing challenges caused by the disaster.
The latest earthquake was reported by the NCS on Tuesday night, while the earlier tremor in Tibet was recorded by the EMSC.
