The District and Sessions Court in Meerut sentenced both convicts after finding them guilty of murdering Rajput and destroying evidence. The court had convicted them on September 30, following a trial that included 126 hearings and the examination of 22 prosecution witnesses.
The case dates back to March 2025, when Saurabh Rajput was allegedly murdered in Meerut. According to the prosecution, his body was dismembered and the remains concealed inside a blue plastic drum filled with cement and sand in an attempt to hide the crime.
Investigators assembled evidence that included forensic reports, call detail records, CCTV footage and witness statements. The prosecution also examined individuals connected with the purchase of materials allegedly used in the crime, alongside cab drivers and hotel staff who could help establish the movements of the accused.
The verdict marks a significant development in a case that attracted widespread attention across India. The sentence was delivered more than a year and a half after the crime came to light.
