Mumbai, October 21, 2026: Jio Platforms’ initial public offering (IPO) has made a powerful start in the Indian stock market, attracting bids worth approximately ₹22,354 crore within the first two hours of public bidding. The offering, backed by Reliance Industries, drew strong interest from institutional investors on its opening day.
According to reports published on Wednesday, the IPO received bids worth around ₹22,354 crore by 10:34 AM, against shares worth approximately ₹22,078 crore available in the public issue at the upper end of the price band. The issue crossed the full-subscription mark within a remarkably short period.
Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) emerged as the biggest contributors to the strong opening. Their portion of the IPO was subscribed approximately 3.25 times by the reported morning update, reflecting substantial demand from institutional investors.
However, participation from individual investors was comparatively modest during the initial hours. Market observers will continue to watch subscription figures across retail and non-institutional investor categories as the bidding process progresses.
Jio Platforms’ IPO is valued at approximately ₹30,213 crore, placing it among India's largest public offerings. The company operates Reliance Jio's digital and telecommunications businesses and has built a significant presence in India's mobile connectivity market.
The IPO has attracted considerable attention because of Jio's scale, its digital services business and its position within the Reliance Industries group.
The IPO opened for public subscription on October 21 and is scheduled to close on October 23, 2026. Shares are expected to list on the stock exchanges on October 28, subject to the applicable process.
Although the strong opening indicates substantial institutional demand, it does not guarantee listing gains or future stock performance. Investors should review the company's offer documents, valuation, financial position and associated risks before making an investment decision.
